Unit I Assessment
Question 1
What are the four policy issues in the pay model? What purposes do the objectives in the pay model serve? Your response should be at least 200 words in length.

Unit II PowerPoint Presentation
You are the human resource manager of a local university, and you have been asked to explain the differences in compensation among instructors, assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors as there has been some question as to how compensation is determined for these different positions. Using the information, you have learned within this unit, create a PowerPoint Presentation describing how the different compensation levels were determined.
Your presentation should consist of no less than seven slides, not including the title slide and reference slides. Be sure to cite all references using APA format.

Unit III Assessment
Question 1
Why are job analyses important in an organization? Describe the information that should be included in a job analysis as well as methods for collecting it. Also explain the connection that exists among job analysis, job description, and job specification. Your response should be at least 300 words in length.
Question 2
Compare and contrast the three most common job evaluation methods. Which one of these methods do you feel would work best in your organization? Explain your choice. Your response should be at least 300 words in length.

Unit IV Assessment
Question 1
What is the purpose of a survey? How would you design a survey for setting pay for welders? How would you design a survey for setting pay for financial managers? Do the issues differ? Will the techniques used and the data collected differ? Why or why not? Your response should be at least 300 words in length.
Question 2
There are consequences of pay level and pay mix decisions. Identify and briefly discuss each factor. What pay level does the efficiency wage predict? What pay level does the fairness wage predict? Does the theory accurately predict organization behavior? Why, or why not? 

Unit IV Case Study
Read “Your Turn: Two-tier Wages” on pp. 242-243 and compose a paper using your responses to the questions following the Case Study on p. 243. Your paper should consist of at least two pages, and all citations and references should be in APA format

Unit V Assessment
Question 1
Many would argue that if an employee receives a decent salary, he or she will be satisfied and remain with the organization. What are your thoughts on this statement? Does compensation motivate behavior? Do people join a firm because of pay? Do people stay in a firm or leave a firm because of pay? Do employees agree to develop job skills because of pay? Do employees perform better on their jobs because of pay? Provide examples to support your answer. Your response should be at least 300 words in length.
Question 2
Some would argue that incentives are the key to retaining and attracting employees. It has been noted that there are various types of incentive plans. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of individual incentive plans, team incentive plans, variable-pay plans, and group incentive plans. Provide examples of each plan.  Your response should be at least 300 words in length.

Unit V Article Critique
Using the databases within the CSU Online Library, locate a scholarly, peer-reviewed article regarding how an employee’s compensation can influence his/her behavior on the job. After reading the article you will compose an article critique. Your critique will be at least two pages in length, and in the critique, you will include the following:
·         The main topic/question of the article
·         The author’s intended audience
·         A discussion of what appears to be valid or invalid in the article
·         A determination of whether or not you agree with the author’s assertion and an explanation as to why you do or do not agree
·         A discussion of whether or not an employee’s behavior can be affected by his/her compensation and why you believe this to be so
Be sure that any citations or references are in proper APA format. Also, be sure to include an APA reference to your article.

Unit VI Assessment
Question 1
Employee benefits have become very important to many employees. When benefits are cut, employees can become disgruntled and feel cheated. Many employees do not realize or understand the difference between the benefits required and miscellaneous benefits. Identify and explain in detail those benefits that are mandated/required for employers to offer employees. Your response should be at least 300 words in length.
Question 2
Identify and discuss key issues in benefit planning, design, and administration. Be certain to discuss the four major administrative issues that arise on setting up a benefit package. Your response should be at least 300 words in length.

Unit VII Assessment
Question 1
Compare and contrast global workers, expatriates, local nationals, and third-country nationals. What impact, if any, do they have on international pay systems? Explain. Your response should be at least 200 words in length.
Question 2
Although there has been a decline in union memberships, unions are still prevalent in public and private organizations. Based on the reading in this unit, unions have an impact on wage determination. Discuss the four specific areas in which unions have an impact on wage determination? Your response should be at least 200 words in length.

Unit VII Final Examination
Question 1
A typical structure within colleges is instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor. What type of pay structure would this be classified as, egalitarian or hierarchical? What added information would you need to decide? What behavior by the faculty do you believe the structure influences? Is it aligned or difficult to copy? Does it add value? Why or why not? Your response should be at least 200 words in length.
Question 2
Comparing labor costs is important to the success of an organization. Discuss how costs can be managed by controlling all aspects of compensation. Be certain to discuss benefits and services, headcount, hours worked and skills used, and the average cash compensation. Your response should be at least 200 words in length.
Question 3
Describe how each type of pay-for-performance plan can help an organization attract and retain employees. Your response should be at least 200 words in length.
Question 4
You are a supervisor in a company that is a low payer relative to your competitors. What are some things that you can do to increase the likelihood that workers will feel fairly treated? Do you feel that doing these things will improve the manner in which the workers treat internal and external customers? Why or why not? Your response should be at least 200 words in length.

Unit VIII Research Project
Select one of the U.S. Federal Pay Regulations from Exhibit 17.1 on pp. 594-596. Using the CSU Online Library, conduct additional research on one of the regulations. Your research project should be a minimum of three pages and should include a literature review. Page count does not include the title page or reference page. Include in your research:
·         History of the act
·         How it was created
·   How it influenced the area of human resources and compensation
·         What the future holds for the act
·   How it affected the employer and the employee
·       Do you agree with this act? Why or why not?
Your paper should follow APA Guidelines and all references should be cited
